Sharks go for Ghanaian trio

Sharks FC are set to beef up their team for the 2007/08 football season with three Ghanaian players.

The players, Charles Asamoah from Desert Warriors, Joseph Taegu from Hearts of Oak and Stephen Owusu from Hearts of Lions are already in Port Harcourt while the club management sorts out transfer formalities.

Sports commissioner, Christopher Green told Arkfm that his idea of success will be to see that Sharks win a trophy this season because they are long overdue.

"Sharks will return to winning ways and the best way to do that is to get the best players to feature for the club. We already have good coaches that we trust so what is left is to have the kind of players they can work with and we will not look back," Green told Arkfm

The commissioner visited the training session of the team on Thursday and charged the players to go all out and shame their critics in the new season.

"You can win matches and win the league but it will take a determined effort from you to do that. I want you all to decide in your hearts that the only possible outcome this season is for the league title to come to Port Harcourt," Green said.

Aside from the Ghanaian trio, former Heartland central defender, Obinna Nwokolo and former Enyimba FC midfielder, Damien Udeh were seen training with the Sharks team.

With the league now kicking off on Sunday, Sharks have a home game against Nasarawa United at the University of Port Harcourt Stadium.
