Sharks, Akumpreku match ends in a brawl

Elmina Nov.10, GNA-The second division league match between Coconut Grove Sharks of Elmina and Akumpreku F/C of Twifo Praso at the SSNIT park at Elmina, ended abruptly in the 60th minute, following a free-for all fight between the supporters of the two teams.

It all started when a supporter of Akumpreku run unto the field of play to hit a player of Coconut Grove, when a misunderstanding arose between two players from the opposing sides.

This developed into free for all fight during which the assistant referees were also attacked.

Mr Essel Walker, class one referee from Cape Coast who was handling the match, had no alternative than to stop the match after consulting the match commissioner.
