Sekondi Hasaacas' head coach resigns

Sekondi, Sept.8, GNA - Papa Thiam, head coach of Sekondi Hasaacas has resigned his position, citing his main reason as the Club's indebtedness to him to the tune of 16 million Cedis.

He said the amount was the "signing-on fee" which the Club was to pay him by the end of January 2006 in line with the contract agreement since he took over as head coach of the Club about two years ago. Coach Thiam told the GNA Sports in an interview at Sekondi on Wednesday that he would present his resignation letter to the Club Chairman, Nana Banyin Dadson before the end of the week.

A copy of the resignation letter was made available to the GNA. Coach Thiam said even though he had worked hard to bring the Club to its present status he had been treated unfairly by the Club. He said his monthly salary had always been paid in instalments making life "unbearable" for him and his family to the extent that he could not pay his rent in Togo.

"I am disappointed and feel so bad because it is the first time that I have been treated so shabbily in a foreign country", he lamented, adding that all his appeal to the management of the Club to "see reason with me" failed.

Coach Thiam said management recently gave him four million cedis but indicated that the money was woefully inadequate to cater for he and his family who have joined him in Sekondi.

He said he would go back to Togo, rest for a while before he looks for a new club.
