Second Division team beats Kotoko

Tarkwa (W/R), Jan. 18, GNA - Bayern Munich, a second division team based at Nsuta Wassa near Tarkwa on Sunday beat Asante Kotoko by a lone goal in a friendly match played at Tarkwa Na Abosso (TNA) park at Tarkwa. The goal was scored by Jamel Mohammed in the 72nd minute. Earlier in the match, a penalty was awarded in favour of Bayern Munich but was saved by Louis Quainoo, Kotoko's goalkeeper in the sixth (6th) minute.

In the course of the first half of the match, Bayern Munich could not effectively use the chances that came their way. A powerful shot delivered by Michael Asante bounced back after hitting the bar. Bayern Munich continued to put pressure on Asante Kotoko, but no goal came out of it.

But in the second half, the tide turned against Bayern Munich, but for the brilliant performance of Bayern Munich goalkeeper, Baba Alidu, the team would have carried home at load of goals. His performance was greeted with a loud round of applause from, even supporters of Asante Kotoko.

Asante Kotoko also had chances to score in the second half, but squandered those opportunities till they conceded the only goal in the match in the 72nd minute.

Mrs. Gifty Eugenia Kusi, MP for Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency took the kick-off for the beginning of the match.

Mr Ben Assabil, Presiding Member of Wassa West District Assembly commended the performance of Bayern Munich, adding, "with this performance the boys can obtain premier status." Supporters called on well-wishers to help Bayern Munich to grow so that big teams could come and play at Tarkwa. 18 Jan. 04
