Samuel Inkoom weeps at Children's Home

Kumasi, July 12, GNA - Samuel Inkoom, a defender of the the Black Stars, on Saturday wept when he donated food items and 1,000 dollars to the Kumasi Children's Home.

The items included five bags of rice, cooking oil, detergents, confectionaries and toilet rolls.

The player, who described himself as a friend of the Home, said he was moved by the plight of the children during an hour's interaction with them.

"I am really touched by the unfortunate situation of these my little brothers and sisters as most of them have no parents and virtually no hope for the future, but I know God will provide", he told the GNA Sports after the presentation. The Switzerland-based FC Basle player, who played a key role in the Stars' qualification to the quarter finals of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, was accompanied by members of the Inkoom Fan Club. He pledged to pay regular visits to the Home whenever he is in town.

The former Kumasi Asante Kotoko player appealed to philanthropists to share their resources with the inmates to ensure their survival and development.

Ms Caroline Amponsah, Assistant Child Care Officer at the Home, thanked him for the donation and appealed to non-governmental organizations to support the orphanage to complete the construction of its social centre.
