Saltpond Redevelopment Institute beat Great Astons

Saltpond, Nov.3, GNA-Saltpond Redevelopment Institute, played a good game to beat Moree Great Astons 3-0 in their Central Region second division league match played at the sports council park at Saltpond on Sunday.

Centre half, Godfred Boateng, who played a yeoman's game opened the scoring when he outwitted two defenders in a row and scored the opener in the 25th minute.

Moree Astons hit back and made frantic efforts to equalise but the able defence of their opponents, kept them at bay until half-time. On resumption of play, the home team took absolute control of the game and dictated the pace, and in the 62nd minute, centre forward Edward Boateng, exploited a defensive blunder to increase the tally to 2-0.

Great Astons hopes of drawing level with the home team, were again dashed, when Boateng hit the net for the second time in the 83rd minute to seal their doom.

Super Stars draw with Oguaa United

Cape Coast, Nov.3, GNA - A non -drop shot, delivered by inside right, Joseph Esson, in the dying minutes of their match enabled Koforidua Super Stars to split the points with Oguaa United in their second division league match played at the Cape Coast sports stadium on Saturday.

Super Stars, lying at the bottom of the league table with no points after six matches, started the match strongly and nearly went ahead in the fifth minute, but outside left, Charles Mensah, fumbled with the ball.

Oguaa United, took over the attack in the 20th minute and after dictating the pace for sometime, snatched the leader in the 25th minute through centre forward William Baidoo, who after collecting a mid field pass raced with the ball to score the opener.

Both sides resumed the second half with greater determination but Super Stars had the edge in the attack and levelled up through Esson.
