Black Queens Coach Yusif Basigi has named midfielder Safia Abdul-Rahman as the team’s captain for this month’s Africa Women’s Nations Cup in Cameroon.

The 30-year-old has been handed the mandate to lead the team in the competition which begins tomorrow.

Safia, elder sister of Black Princesses captain Rasheda Abdul-Rahman will be appearing in her fourth Africa Women’s Champions having played in the 2008, 2010 and 2014 editions.

She will be serving as the stand-in captain for Marcy Myles who could not make the team after her Club side refused to release her to join the Black Queens.

The Lepo Ladies star will be deputized by Sweden-based midfielder Elizabeth Addo.

Ghana will open their Group campaign with a game against debutants Kenya on Sunday at the Stade Municipal de Limbe.
