SWAG match fixed for August 9

Accra, July 22, GNA - The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) has fixed Sunday, August 9, for the second leg of the H.P. Nyemitei Cup match between Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Kpando Heart of Lions at the Baba Yara Stadium, Kumasi.

A statement issued and signed by William Ezah, acting General Secretary of SWAG, said the match will determine the ultimate winner of this years SWAG Cup after Kotoko defeated Lions in the first leg by a lone goal at the Ohene Djan Stadium, Accra.

According to the statement, the match will also be used to raise funds for the SWAG and the two teams for their respective activities. It said the Association would use the match to provide the two clubs the opportunity to win their first major trophy of the year after missing out of the 2008/9 premiership.

Kotoko in the latter stages of the League witnessed a massive resurgence which saw them pick the second position on the table, whilst Lions after an impressive outing in the season placed third in the last premiership. The statement said the two teams are expected to provide soccer with much excitement on the 'D' day.

The statement called on corporate bodies interested in sponsoring the event to contact the secretariat of the Association at the Ghana News Agency (GNA) or contact 0244-685639 for further discussions.
