Where else to start our weekly round of RtD players than in Cairo the venue of
Ghana's crucial 2014 World Cup qualifier against Egypt.
Abdul Majeed Waris completed his remarkable progress as an international player as
the Black Stars made history by qualifying for the Fifa World Cup, three times in a
row.
Despite going down 2:1 to their hosts, Ghana qualified 7:3 on aggregate. It will be
recalled that Waris scored and provided two assists as Ghana won 6:1 in the first
leg of the play-offs in Kumasi.
"It is great to qualify for the World Cup and I'm happy I played a role in the
process. It makes me really really happy," he said in a post match interview.
Waris not only scored three times during the qualifiers, but also became the first
Academy graduate to score a goal for Ghana: a watershed moment in the annals of RtD.
'Midfield scoring machine' signs deal with Man City
Ghana's current most prolific midfielder in Europe, Bismark Adjei-Boateng penned a
new deal with City after completing a successful year on loan with Norwegian
champions Stromsgodset.
Bismark, 19, scored eight goals in 20 games, the highest by any Ghanaian midfielder
in Europe this year, as Stromsgodset won their first league title in 43 years.
The former Ghana U-17 Star flew to Manchester to sign the new deal to the admiration
of Man City manager Manuel Pellegrini.
Samuel Mensah wins Best Player of the Year
Fresh from being named Ostersunds FK's Best Player of the season, Samuel Mensah has
joined Swedish top flight side Orebro.
Mensah, 24, had the joint most appearances by a player at his former club having
made 27 appearances out of 30 league matches for the Superttan outfit in the 2013
season.
He was an ever present in the starting line up alongside fellow defender Rasms
Lindkvist helping the club to clinch 10th place on the log.
Mensah's performance continues a rich history of RtD graduates at Ostersunds FK.
David Accam rose to fame at the club before making his big move to Helsingborg IF
last season.

Thomas Boakye named in Swedish Superttan XI
Thomas Boakye has been rated as one of the best players in the Swedish second tier
by respected Swedish website www.fotbolldirekt.se
after a wonderful season with Ostersunds FK where he scored five times in 28
appearances.
Here is what they wrote about our graduate: ""Right back: Thomas Boakye, Östersund
FK. It is a proactive choice by me but Boakye has impressed me. The speed is good,
with ball skills as well. Five goals, four assists and an otherwise good wing play
makes him feel worthy of a place here. Has potential for development and has
certainly several clubs watching."

RtD qualify for Ghana FA Cup Round 64
RtD are through to the round 64 of the Ghana FA Cup after beating Dynamo FC 2:0 at
the Ho Sports Stadium in the Volta region. Armeyawu Muntari put the away team ahead
with a simple tap-in, in the first half before Evans Mensah volleyed in minutes
inside the second period to secure qualification. The draw for the next stage of the
competition will be staged in the coming weeks.

USA College Soccer:
James C. Nortey's Marquette University won their first BIG EAST Championship
following their 3:2 win over Providence Friars. Nortey, who tallied two shots in the
win, was also selected in the All-BIG EAST First Team, in what has been an
exceptional year for the RtD graduate.
Georgetown heat-break

Earlier, Joshua Yaro's Georgetown University soccer team lost a dramatic semi final
clash against Providence Friars. The Hoyas lost 5:4 on penalty shoot-outs after the
game ended 0:0 in regulation time. Yaro was unfortunate to see his penalty kick
saved but he made the BIG EAST All-Rookie Team. Georgetown will get the opportunity
to play in the 2013 conference tournament title and automatic berth to the NCAA
Tournament.
UCLA Gauchos Earn No. 10 National Seed

Graduate Fifi Baiden's UC Santa Barbara soccer team have been rewarded for their
excellent season with the No. 10 national seed in the NCAA tournament.

Fifi has made 16 appearances, scoring one and providing an assist for his side so far.

The Gauchos have put together a 12-5-3 overall record and going undefeated in Big
West play for just the second time in program history.

High School soccer
Millbrook are Champions again:
Baki Bawa scored his second goal in two games as Millbrook won their fourth
Championship in five years. Baki scored the winning goal from fellow graduate Edward
Opoku's pass as the Mustangs beat Concord Academy 4:2 in the NEPSAC Class C
Championship Final at Loomis Chaffee. Baki had scored earlier in the semi finals.
South Kent win NEPSAC Class B Finals
Richard Mensah Glemawu made a vital save as South Kent School's Prep Soccer team won
their sixth NEPSAC Championship in eight years. Glemawu, who has fast established
himself as a penalty specialist, saved a kick as the Cardinals went ahead to beat
Lawrence Academy 4:3 on penalty shoot outs to win the NEPSAC Class B tournament.
Glemawu had saved another penalty kick earlier in the semi finals as his team won
4:2 in a shoot out after the game ended 0:0 in regulation time.
