Referee Lamptey to handle Mauritania/Morocco qualifier

Accra, June 2, GNA - Ghanaian match official, Joseph Lamptey will get his first taste of the 2010 World Cup/African Cup of Nations qualifiers on Saturday, June 7 when he steers the affairs of the Mauritania-Morocco Group Eight clash. Information gathered by GNA Sports from the world soccer governing body, Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) confirms the appointment of the 34-year old for the game in Nouakchott. Lamptey, who is an officer of the Ghana Immigration Service, (GIS) would be assisted on the lines by compatriots, David Laryea and Dawood Ouedraogo. Thirty-five year old Reginald Lathbrigde will act as the fourth referee.

The quartet would leave for Noaukchott on Monday night ahead of the encounter billed for the National Stadium. Lamptey, considered one of the renowned Ghanaian referees was the man in charge of the Guinea-Bissau-Sierra Leone clash during the preliminary rounds.
