Red Bull Soccer Academy Make A Bright Start

Red Bull Soccer Academy made a good start in their Volta region second division football league campaign when they beat visiting Keta Sandlanders FC by a lone goal .The uncompromising southern zone three duel which was played at the adopted Akatsi Teacher Training College park saw Red Bull Soccer Academy kicking off after the knight of the whistle George Adodo from Aflao had signaled both teams to commence hostilities.

Both teams probed for an early opener. In the 9th minute , the visitors nearly had their noses in front but Red Bull Soccer Academy agile goalkeeper Douglas Asamoah dived to his elastic limit to parry a goal bound volley from the boot of Wilson Gobali to safety.

Red Bull Academy responded quickly with a powerful header from skipper Livingstone Logoh just outside the vital area which was blocked by goalkeeper Gobali Daniel.

In the 18th minute, Sandlanders FC had another glorious opportunity to open the score when a superb 40 meter free kick from Evrad Quarshie agonizingly hit the woodwork.

The goal missing chances continued for both teams until the referee brought the first half to an end.

After a goalless first half, Red Bull Soccer Academy kept bombarding their opponent goal area to weaken their defensive barrier. In one situation, the captain of Sandlanders Ibrahim Mohammed was sent off after a second bookable offence when he fouled his other Ibrahim Mohammed of red Bull Academy .

Down by one man, the visitors resulted to rough play to calm the hungry looking attacking machinery of Red Bull Soccer Academy.

In the 63rd minute however, Gilbert Fiamenyoh put the noses of Red Bull Soccer Academy in front when he shot past bemused goalkeeper Daniel Gokah after receiving a pass from the midfield. In the 89th minute, the baby face assassin and dare devil of Red Bull Soccer Academy Sulemana Zuberu nearly increased the tally when turned the defenders of Sandlanders who were in sixes and sevens inside out but the resultant shot to crown that scintillating play missed the goal post by inches.
