Reaction To Petition To The President Of Ghana

Reaction To Petition To The President Of Ghana By The Playing Body Of The Ghana Amputee Football Federation

Our attention has been drawn to a petition to the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, supposedly written by the playing body of the Ghana Amputee Football Team, the Black Challenge, seeking His Excellency’s action to remove Mr. Francis Adjetey Sowah, President of the Ghana Amputee Football Federation from office.

The petition follows series of accusations leveled against the same person on some radio stations in the country.

We would like to put the following on record for the public to be well informed on developments at the Amputee Football front.

-The headed letter used for the petition was forged by whoever authored the letter.

-There is nothing like a Secretary to the playing body as is being claimed by Francis Antwi-Darkwa, Deputy Captain of the team, who signed the petition.

-Our checks have shown that the signature used in the name of Francis Antwi-Darkwa was different from his recognized signature as could be found on official documents.

-The petition made mention of some amounts of money donated to the Federation that are astronomically higher than the actual amounts presented. For instance, GHAPOHA donated GH?5,000.00 NOT GH?10,000.00 (Francis is very much aware of this).

-The insurance cover by Star Assurance was in kind and not cash so could not be shared to anybody as the petition seeks to impute.

-NEVER have the players asked management to account for resources in their care, which should be the norm in any organized institution, before other avenues are explored, in the event of management’s refusal.

-Management have always kept accounts of ALL TRANSACTIONS that have to do with the Federation and anyone who cares to know can, at any time, check that. The accounts are audited by qualified chartered accountants.

In view of the inappropriate action by the playing body, management have decided to take criminal action against those who forged the headed letter. Also, in due course, a press conference would be organized to set the records straight on the specific allegations made.

We wish to inform the public to treat this petition with the contempt it deserves since it is borne out of lack of knowledge of the facts about amputee football.
