Rawlings to Deliver 5th Trust Lecture Today

Former President of Ghana, Flt.-Lt. Jerry John Rawlings, yesterday, arrived Nigeria to attend the 5th annual Trust Dialogue of Media Trust Limited, publishers of Daily Trust, Weekly Trust, Sunday Trust and Aminiya newspapers.

Mr. Rawlings arrived the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at 3.20 p.m. aboard a chartered Wing Aviation flight in company of his wife, Mrs. Nana Rawlings, and two aides - former Ghanaian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. James Gbeho, and his Special Assistant, Mr. Bashir Maous.

The former President of Ghana was received at the Presidential wing of the airport by the chairman and chief executive officer of Media Trust Limited, Malam Kabir Yusuf and the Managing Director, Alhaji Isiaq Ajibola.

Mr. Rawlings will today deliver a lecture on the "Challenges of Democracy in Africa" at this year's annual dialogue scheduled for the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.

Vice President Goodluck Jonathan billed to be the chief host will be represented by the Minister of Information and Communications, Mr. John Odey, while General Abdulsalami Abubakar will stand in for former President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, who is unavoidably absent, as special guest of honour.

The event will be chaired by the former President of the Senate, Senator Ken Nnamani, while the Ona of Abaji, Alhaji Adamu B. Yunusa, will be the royal father of the day.

National Assembly members, governors, ministers, captains of industry are among the dignitaries expected at the event.

There will also be a dialogue dinner at 8:00 p.m. where former presidential aspirant of the National Republican Convention (NRC), Alhaji Lema Jibril, will lead discussions.
