Rawlings sends goodwill message to Black Stars

Accra, June 6, GNA 96 Jerry John Rawlings, former President of the Republic on Tuesday sent a goodwill message to the Black Stars ahead of their World Cup debut, which commences on Monday, June 12 at Hanover against Italy.

The message, which was signed on his behalf by Mr Victor Smith, Special Assistant and Director of Public Affairs of the former President wished the team 91success and honour.

"As you prepare to lock horns with the world's best in football, I join the many Ghanaians who are hoping and praying that you will bring glory and honour to Ghana," the message read in part.

The former President said, "I may not be a football enthusiast but when it comes to the national team engaged in an international contest you can always count on my support and prayers."
