Racist Lazio Fans Target Blay

UEFA looking into Lazio-Dinamo fan trouble, racist chants
European football's governing body, UEFA, is looking into incidents during the Champions League third qualifying round first leg game between Lazio and Dinamo Bucharest.

Violence before the game outside the stadium on Tuesday left five Dinamo Bucharest supporters hospitalised, one in a serious condition with a stab wound.

And during the game, some Lazio fans were heard targeting Dinamo's Ghanaian player George Blay with racist chants, although Lazio also had a black player.
UEFA spokesman William Gaillard said: "We haven't yet opened an investigation but have started an information-gathering process.
"The big question is whether these incidents were of a racist nature or not," he said. "We're giving ourselves a week or two to gather the evidence before opening a probe or not.
Gaillard added that UEFA would only investigate incidents that occurred within the stadium."
Lazio said it "expected UEFA to gather all the necessary information to determine what happened on August 14 before and during the match".
The Rome club added that it could not be held responsible for events that took place outside the Olympic Stadium.
As for the alleged racist chants, it said that "all Lazio fans quickly and noisily protested against a small group of spectators whose shouting was immediately overwhelmed by singing".
