Rabiu has no favourite between Gyan and Ayew over captaincy

Ghana midfielder Rabiu Mohammed insists he has no preference between Asamoah Gyan and Andre Ayew who captains the Black Stars.

The 25-year-old has played several times for the Black Stars with either Gyan or Ayew with the armband at a point in time.

There has been a raging debate as to who among the two is better equipped with the requisite qualities to lead the Black Stars.

Asamoah Gyan is the substantive captain of the Black Stars with Andre Ayew now serving as his deputy.

This arrangement has however done little to tone down the ongoing debate as to who is the better leader despite the cordial relation between the two.

Rabiu Mohamed in answering questions in a Q&A session with his fans on Twitter on Easter Monday says he has no preference considering them as ‘great captains’.

“They are both great players and great captains. I like them both very much!” he responded.

Rabiu Mohammed has been a regular member of the Black Stars since breaking into the team during the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

He however played a minimal role in the Black Stars’ silver-medal feat at the 2015 AFCON in Equatorial Guinea.
