RTU to make Club a winsome side

Accra, June 3, GNA 96 The Board of Directors of Real Tamale United Sporting Club (RTU) has drawn up programmes and strategies to make the team a winsome side within the next two years.

It has therefore decided to appoint a first class coach and team manager as well as create a vibrant youth development programme to ensure that the Club remains among the country=92s top clubs. These decisions were arrived at during an emergency Board meeting of the Club in Accra on Saturday to discuss RTU=92s new deal with Wienco and the new corporate structure of the club. The Lepowura Alhaji Nurudeen Jawula the Board Chairman commended Wienco Ghana Limited for its continued sponsorship to the Club as well as members of the Club for keeping faith with the Club for the past 13 years.

The meeting also agreed to raise the salaries of the players and technical team in a move to inspire them to put off their best performance when the soccer season commences. The Board also discussed the purported investments and expenses made by Herbert Mensah in RTU from the strategic partnership with the Club that runs into millions of cedis.

Alhaji Jawula said the signing of the renewal of the 900 million cedi five-year deal between RTU and Wienco is a major boost to the Club that signifies the trust and confidence of the fertilizer company of ensuring a new corporate direction.

The Lepowura advised supporters and well-wishers of RTU to ensure that they comport themselves and ensure that the team performs creditably and to justify the trust Wienco has reposed in the team. The members noted that RTU has become one of the major teams in the country to have benefited from such a corporate sponsorship deal that has to be complimented by the Board members, the playing body, technical team and the supporters to ensure the survival of the Club.

Mr Henry Wientjies, Managing Director of Wienco lauded the mutual understanding between the two groups adding that the company was pleased with the cooperation and would continue to support the Club to grow.. He said Wienco was honoured for supporting RTU to develop into one of the best football clubs in the country and prayed that with the sponsorship, the team would be well placed to annex the Premier League. Alhaji Adam Munkaila, acting Chairman of the Club commended Wienco for not only supporting football in the northern parts of the country but also assisting in the construction of schools and instituting of a feeding programme in farming communities of the Northern Region that would soon be extended to the Upper regions.

He said Wienco has through its agricultural practices ensured that the outbreak of bush fires are contained in its catchment areas of the Tolon/Kumbungu, Savelugu/Nanton and Gushiegu-Karaga districts as well supporting the local Farmers Association with a bus.

Meanwhile Mr Hussain Sulemana of Tema GHAPOHA has been named to represent the Retired RTU Players Association on the Board. Present at the meeting were Alhaji Ibrahim Adam, Alhaji Sherif Savanna Alhaji Alhassan Alolo, Musah Kojo, Aminu Amadu, Jones Alhassan-Abu.
