Queens receive bonus

Warri (Nigeria) - The national Women soccer team, the Black Queens, on Wednesday received part of their winning bonuses and allowances ahead of their titanic clash with the Super Falcon of Nigeria in the finals of the Third Africa Women Cup of Nations in Warri, Nigeria.

Each player was given $1,500, which covers the preliminary matches. The Queens also received $840 each as allowances for 21 days. The team is however yet to be paid the $1,500 promised each player for winning the semi-final match against the Indomitable Lioness of Cameroon.

Officials could not say when it would be paid neither could they come out with a special package for the Queens should they win the grand finale against host the Falcons on Saturday. The Queens kick-started the tournament with a 2-0 wins over Mali, 1-0 victory over Nigeria, thrashed Ethiopia 3-0 and a hard-fought 3-2 win over Cameroon.
