Presby Moderator wishes Stars well

Accra, June 7, GNA 96 Rt. Rev Yaw Frimpong-Manso, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church, Ghana has asked the national team , the Black Stars to endeavour to make a significant impact at the World Cup.

He tasked the team to avoid individualism and rather play as a unit devoid of selfishness in their quest to glitter in an effort to achieve the ultimate.

The Stars who are making a debut Mundial appearance will engage Italy in a Group E opener on Monday June 12, with further clashes against the Czech Republic and the United States of America (USA) in a competition the Moderator believes would come good.

Rt. Rev. Frimpong-Manso who said this in a release signed by G.B.K Owusu, Public Relations Officer of the Church copied to the GNA Sports, urged the team to display a high level of discipline and sportsmanship in the competition that spans a month.

The Moderator said the best present that the Stars can offer Ghanaians during the Golden Jubilee celebration of the Independence anniversary which falls next year is to win the World Cup trophy. Rt. Rev. Frimpong-Manso underscored his confidence in the team saying 91I know you can do it with determination, dedication and devotion=92.

He said the essence of sports is to display good sportsmanship and provide friendship amongst nations of the world, 91whether you win or lose, do it in such a way that you would receive applause and carve a good image since it is honourable to lose in dignity with fair play than to win in ignominy=92.
