Premiership All-Star game to spice awards

Accra, May 16, GNA - In a bid to spice up the second Onetouch Premier League Awards, Globalavanti, media co-ordinators of the league, will on Sunday, June 3 organise an All-Star game featuring players from the Northern and Southern sectors of the country.

The match scheduled for the Dansoman Carl Reindorf Park in Accra, will parade the best players from the Northern sector comprising team from the Ashanti, Brong Ahafo, Northern, Upper East and Upper West Regions slugging out with their Southern sector counterparts made up of Greater Accra, Central, Western, Volta and Eastern Regions. Launching the Premier league Awards on Wednesday, Nana Agyeman, a member of the Organising Committee said the match, which will be the first organised match between the two sectors in recent memory is to bring the players together to have fun and to afford them the opportunity to exhibit what they know best to entertain the expected crowd.

Nana Agyeman said for the players to be identified with their clubs, all the selected players for the match will have their respective clubs embossed at the back of their jerseys in addition to their names. In all 66 players have been selected to represent the Southern Sector whilst 47 have been selected to stand in for the Northern sector. Out of the players selected from the Southern Sector, premiership debutants, Tema Youth contributed the highest number of players with 10 followed by Liberty Professionals with nine players and Hearts has eight players followed by Olympics, Tema Real Sportive and Kpando Heart of Lions with seven players each.

For the Northern sector, the biggest contingent is from the League runner up, Ashantigold who contributed 11 players followed by Kumasi Asante Kotoko with nine players.
