Preko explodes as Ayew signs the deal

THE devastating partnership between Ghanaian speedsters Yaw Preko and Kwame Ayew, best celebrated at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, is set to strike again, this time in the Turkish League.

This became imminent over the week end when Kwame Ayew finally ended his long search in Europe by signing a season's loan contract for Yozgatspor, the Turkish side for which his colleague Yaw Preko is the leading striker.

And just around when the deal was struck, Preko hit smashy form with a hat-trick in Yozgatspor's 4-1 demolition of Erzuiumspor in Sunday's league match.

Ayew's career ran into difficulties at the end of the Portuguese season when he was sidelined by the coach of his forwer club Sporting Lisbon.

He had been linked with a number of European clubs including German sides 1860 Munich, Bochum and Stuttgart before the Turkish deal was struck.

Still in Turkey, Ghanaian defender Sam Johnson was recalled to action by Fernerbache, the club which had earlier put him on transfer list at the end of last season.

Unable to find a buyer for the Ghanaian, Fernerbache recalled Sam Johnson for the weekend's action against Ankaragucci and it paid off handsomely.

Fernerbache whipped Ankaragucci, which featured another Ghanaian, Ohene Kennedy, 5-1 with Johnson scoring the fourth goal for Fernerbache.
