Poku ready to represent Ghana

New York City FC midfielder, Kwadwo Poku, says accepting to represent Ghana will not be too much of a big decision.

The 23-year-old Kumasi-born youngster made his MLS debut for City as a second half substitute when they lost 1-0 to Sporting KC last Saturday.

“Playing for Ghana won’t be too much of a big decision,” he told Angel FM.

“For a person born in Ghana and with my family back there, I can never turn my back on Ghana. I’m a Ghanaian and will always be a Ghanaian.

“I’m just playing, doing what I love to do. I’m just ready. If Ghana will give me that opportunity to show what I have or what I've got, I’m ready to accept that challenge.

“Although the US have been speaking, all the same, like I said, if it’s possible to get the chance with the national team and the Olympic team, I’m really willing to accept that challenge.

“I will help my country whatever I can because I’m a Ghanaian and have a Ghanaian name.”

Poku, who has been likened to Manchester City’s Ivorian midfielder, Yaya Toure, joined NYC from Atlanta Silverbacks in January.
