Player banned for assaulting referee

Cape Coast, April 21, GNA - A football player of Awutu Queen Annan F/C, Isaac Ackon has been banned from participating in the Central Region Division Two League for 12 months for assaulting referee Philip Arthur Forson.

Ackon assaulted referee Forson during a match between Annan FC and Kasoa 24/7 United at Awutu on April 13 this year. A release issued by the Regional Football Association (RFA), in Cape Coast said Ackon has also been fined GH¢50.00 to be paid within 14 days for the assault on the referee.

The Association also fined Annan FC GH¢10.00 for failing to provide security during the match, and an additional GH¢5.00 for failing to pay transport and traffic claims (t & t) for the match, which contravened the RFA laws.

According to the release, the ban on the player takes effect from the date of the incident.
