Former Ghana international John Paintsil has revealed he will play one more season before hanging up his boots.

The former Santos and former Maritzburg United defender saw his contract terminated earlier this season after a change in coach at Maritzburg United.

The experienced player was among eight players released by the Team of Choice who are undergoing changes under new coach Ernst Middendorp.

Paintsil was playing his second season after an impressive debut where he made 27 league appearances during the 2014/15 season.

"Well there were changes at the top in Maritzburg and you know the rules in South Africa are that only five foreign players in a team," Paintsil told Accra based Happy FM.

"So I was affected but i have only one more year left in career before hanging up by boots and I will play in South Africa and that will be it."

The 34-year-old defender has 88 caps for the Black Stars and was a key member of Ghana's maiden world cup team in Germany 2006.
