Paintsil cautions Stars

Ghana’s right back John Paintsil has commended the Black Stars for their spirited showing against Sudan and Lesotho in their World Cup qualifiers.

The feat, recorded a few weeks ago, has handed Ghana’s Brazil 2014 World Cup dream a major boost, as Ghana has dislodged Zambia from the summit of Group D.

Notwithstanding the feat, Paintsil admonished his colleagues to be optimistically cautious considering uncertainties in the game.

To the former Fulham/West Ham defender, the Brazil 2014 job is not yet done until the Stars overpower Zambia in Kumasi in September and go ahead to triumph in the two-legged decider for the Mundial.

In an interview last Friday, he pointed out: “I want to commend my colleagues for a good job done. It was not easy, taking into account the venues for the games but they managed to pick all six points at stake.

“They have made the Brazil 2014 dream clearer, but I must say that they must give full concentration to the Zambia game. They could pull a surprise just as we picked points where many least expected the team to pick the points. “The bigger picture should be to make a third successive World Cup appearance. I have no doubt in the intelligence of the technical team and the determination of the playing body to make the dream a reality. “The team should be modest in the celebration, and I believe nothing will stop us from making it to Brazil,” he added. Responding to his next destination career-wise, he indicated, “A lot of offers have come but my agent and I are thinking through to see which of them will be ok for me. Hopefully before the transfer window closes, you will see me at a destination”. The former Hapoel Tel Aviv key performer is hoping to make a return soon to the Black Stars for the remainder of the qualifiers, having recovered from an injury he sustained during the last Nations Cup in South Africa.
