PRESS RELEASE: From B/A United

The Management of B/A would like to express regret over the painful 0-1 loss to Power F/C in our 16th league match at the Sunyani Coronation Park last Sunyani. Indeed, this loss has thought all followers of the club that we need to do more than we're currently doing, especially in a match that we dominated in every aspect. This loss should rather make us sober and not to resort to insults and recriminations, which will further deepen our wounds.

Management admires the matured manner some supporters took yesterday's defeat in good faith and urge all to learn to appreciate the rules of the game. We've really got to a stage where a proper appreciation of the rudiments of the game Management feels encouraged by an exemplary show of maturity on the part of our supporters.

As we gird our loins for the challenges ahead, we urge our players to be more purposeful and to show more commitment and dedication, as these virtues seem to be lacking in our games. On the other hand, supporters must ensure that their utterances do not go a long way to demoralise the playing-body since that will have a concomitant repercussion on the fortunes of the Club. We plead with our supporters to be circumspect in their criticisms of the performances of the players and always strive to encourage them through very difficult situations. We are really disturbed by the decision of some supporters of the club to rain insults on goalkeeper Ransford Kudjo after yesterday's loss against Power.

The fact cannot be denied that the goalkeeper made a terrible mistake that led to Power's goal. However, it must be placed on record that the entire team failed to click on the afternoon, with strikers squandering chances that were difficult to miss than to score. We all need to support our players, even when they fail to glitter to our expectations. As a Club that has UNITY as its logo, we must always remain UNITED, both in defeat and victory.

Lastly, Management wishes to place on record its frustration over the level of insensitivity and inconsistency being displayed by the leadership of the Ghana Football Association, over the latter's decision to fix our 18th week league clash against KOTOKO on Wednesday. It would be recalled that when our match against Accra Hearts of Oak was fixed on a mid-week, the Management of B/A United vehemently protested against the FA's decision, citing various reasons and ended that it was financially suicidal, since the only matches that the Club relies on for reasonable revenue are KOTOKO and HEARTS. So when these matches are to play on Wednesdays, then we have every cause to mourn over that decision and thereby ask for circumspection on the part of the FA. We still have no sponsors for the League and the FA's pre-occupation should not only be how soon the league will end, but also how the precarious financial positions of the Clubs could be addressed. Under the foregoing circumstance, we would urge the FA to back to its drawing board and reschedule our entire home matches on Sundays. We are not crying for anybody, but under the circumstances that the club finds it. THANK YOU.
