Our Boys are too good to bow out now - Tetteh

(From Caesar Abagali, GNA Special Correspondent in Ulsan, South Korea

Ulasan, (Korea), Aug. 24, GNA - The head coach of Ghana's U-17 National Team, the Black Starlets, Sellas Tetteh has said that it was too early for Ghana to be kicked out of the ongoing FIFA U-17 World championship in South Korea.

He told the Ghanaian media soon on arrival in Ulsan, venue for the Starlets last group match to be played on Sunday that Ghana deserved a win over Germany but fate decided against them.

"The whole world saw the way we played but the early goals scored against us had an impact on us" adding that they were still finding out where the main

problem came from so that such blunders would not re-occur. "I called the boys to order, spoke to some of them one-on-one and I think we would beat Colombia and progress to the next stage of the competition.

Coach Tetteh said even though it was premature to predict a marginal win over Colombia, Ghanaians should rally behind the team with prayers for a convincing victory on Sunday.

He attributed the defeat of the team to their early appearance on the pitch, which made them to overstay thus creating room for the players to relax.

"The worse performance on Sunday would be a draw, which could see the team through to the next stage in terms of goal aggregate," he said. Meanwhile, the players have started intensive training at their new venue towards the Sunday "decider" and with the confidence, determination and hope written on their faces which are indications that the Ghanaian lads would carry the day despite any odds.

The Black Starlets were beaten 3-2 in their second match by Germany, while Columbia also beat Trinidad and Tobago 5-0. 24 Aug. 07
