Otumfuo gives nod to Kotoko IMC

Kumasi, Dec 23, GNA-Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene and owner of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Football Club, has given the Sylvester Asare Owusu led Interim Management Committee (IMC), the nod to continue with the administration of the club.

This was confirmed to the GNA Sports in Kumasi on Tuesday by Mr George Ayisi-Boateng, an IMC member.

He said the IMC would administer the club pending the appointment of a Board of Directors.

Mr Ayisi-Boateng explained that his understanding of Asantehene's plan was for the club to be run like a corporate body with a board of directors, management and shareholders but could not give further details beyond this.

Commenting on Kotoko's participation in the GHALCA Top Four tournament, he said all that Kotoko was asking for was reasonableness and not anything outrageous.

He said the club will no longer venture into anything that will run it into debt hence their insistence on getting a fair share of proceeds.

Mr Ayisi-Boateng said Kotoko knows that GHALCA cannot meet all their demands neither can Kotoko meet all the conditions set out by GHALCA but gave the assurance that if GHALCA saw reason, Kotoko will definitely talk the matter over with the association.

He said, however, that if on the other hand, GHALCA sticks to its guns, then Kotoko will have no option than to pull out of the tournament, pointing out that associations were to ensure the welfare of their members.
