Osam's selection headache

CARETAKER coach Fred Osam Duodo will have less national-based players to choose from for the World Cup qualifier against Liberia.

Players from both Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko will be playing for their sides in the VODACOM Challenge Cup in South Africa next week.

Both clubs have agreed with the Ghana Football Association to release some of their players to join up with Ghana for their qualifier on July 1 in Freetown.

The decision was taken at a meeting between officials of the Ghana FA and representatives of the two clubs that discussed both teams' participation in the VODACOM Challenge Cup in South Africa.

Both sides have agreed that two teams will represent each club, one in the Ghanaian Premiership and another in the competition in South Africa.

This is due to the FA's decision not to reschedule both club's league matches, which would have enabled the club's players to play for Ghana after their expected arrival back from South Africa, then continue the league campaign.
