Opeele lambasts Stars approach towards Sudan game

Accra, Oct. 12, GNA - Outspoken coach Isaac 'Opeele' Boateng, has lambasted the Black Stars for their approach to the 2012 Orange Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sudan at the Baba Yara Stadium, Kumasi on Sunday, saying the team played without "any tactics".

Speaking in an interview with the media, the coach described the performance of the team as shapeless, disorganized, lacked philosophy and any tactical formation.

"This was evident in the way the team played on the field and how they organized themselves. They were just tactically indiscipline," he stated.

Opeele Boateng questioned the inclusion of youngster Jordan Aryew and John Painstil, saying the former is inexperienced, whilst the latter is out of form and should have been ignored by the coach for the match.

According to him, the performance of the team confirmed doubts about the competence of the Black Star coach and the ability of local coaches to handle the Black Stars.

The coach said local coaches were not principled and could not stand external influence reiterating that the Black Stars job could be well handled by a very competent foreign coach with the required qualification.

"The Black Stars job is not for experimental purposes but a serious one that must be managed effectively.

"If we attempt to experiment with the Black Stars, a time will come when the team will collapse and the glories attained will diminish," Opeele Boateng cautioned.

He noted that those advocating local coaches were pushing that agenda for their personal gains adding that it would be a 'sure bet' for disaster for the national team.

Opeele Boateng urged the Ghana Football Association (GFA) not to gamble with the future of the Black Stars, rather it should ensure that the best coach was appointed for the team.
