Olympics counts on "board room" deduction for survival

Accra, July 7, GNA - Accra Great Olympics Sporting Club is counting on "boardroom" deductions to survive the Premiership. Olympics has been condemned to relegation for finishing bottom of the Premier League with 24 points but coach Eric Ofori Antwi told GNA Sports the Club could still stay in the premiership.

Sounding mathematical, the stand-in coach said "with all the deductions affecting other Clubs, we could end up staying in the Premiership as long as it affects those close to our ranks." Relegated Tema Real Sportive last week lost three points to demoted Zaytuna for fielding an unqualified player and with RTU apparently set to protest against the former for the same offence, the "Wonder Club" believes luck could still smile at them some how.

Coach Antwi told GNA Sports "you will never know what life will throw at you. We could just wake up one fine morning and who knows, the GFA could just say they have decided on a 20-team league and that will mean we will have survived in the end."

The Coach reckoned Olympics recorded a chain of poor results all season because they failed to take their chances in the Premier League that ended on Sunday. "The premiership was not that tough, except that we failed to take our chances and that was our bane." Asked to be realistic, the coach said it was a difficult feeling to accept that Olympics could soon journey to the First Division which he described as a torrid mission.

He underscored the need to get things done right in many ways to ensure their return to the elite division occurs quickly. Olympics amassed only 24 points in 30 games to stay bottom of the league summit for greater part of the season that ensured they are relegated for the second time in three years.
