Oly Chairman Removed

The Board of Directors of Accra Great of Accra Great Olympics says it has accepted the resignation of the club's IMC Chairman, Mr R.O. Solomon, but that the Chairman should leave earlier than he requested.

Mr Solomon gave notice to quit the job at the end of the season, but a statement from the Board Directors yesterday said that the chairman’s departure takes immediate effect. This was contained in a letter from the Board of Directors of the club yesterday.

The letter, signed on behalf of the Board Secretary by Mr Paul A. Nkansah, attributed the dismissal to Mr Solomon's attitude towards the club following submission of a letter dated October 31, 2003 to the Board about his intention to step down at the end of the current season.

According to the Board, it was particularly "unhappy about the ill-preparation of the team towards the last league match, a situation which but for the timely intervention of two members of the Board could have caused the team to lose that crucial match".

"The view of the Board therefore is that your decision has influenced your capacity and interest to effectively discharge your duties as chairman of the IMC", the letter explained.

The Board therefore requested Mr. Solomon to hand over his responsibilities as IMC Chairman and all club property in his possession to his vice while arrangements on preparation and submission of report and accounts covering the period he was in charge will be communicated to him in due course.
