Oly Appoints Chief Executive - Searching for Hearts Bus

Accra, June 2, GNA - The Board of Directors of Accra Great Olympics has appointed Eric Afotey Odai, as Chief Executive of the Club for the impending football season and mandated him to put in place a management team.

Mr Odai, until his appointment, was the Chairman of the Interim Management Team which saw Olympics bounce back to the elite Premiership Division after being relegated to First Division last year.

His appointment was announced by the Chairman of the Board, Mr Amarkai Amarteifio, at an emergency meeting of all stake-holders, at the SSNIT Guest House in Accra on Thursday night.

Harry Mouzalas, Secretary to the Patrons, briefing GNA Sports on the outcome of the meeting, said the Board Chairman also announced the retention of the technical team headed by Coach Ken Augustt and Team Manager, Joe Cobblah, all former Olympics players.

Mr Amarteifio expressed gratitude of the Patrons and Board to the Management for their high sense of commitment, resilience and planning with which they executed their assignment and urged total unity and support for them. He stressed that "the Board is convinced that we have one of the best technical teams in the country and have decided to retain them with better remuneration".

Mr Amarteifio further indicated that Red Sea Estate Development Company has renewed its sponsorship of the Club and appealed to all stake-holders and sympathisers of Oly to assist the club financially, adding "no contribution is too little."

Nana Addo Danquah the Third, Okuapehene and Chief Patron of the Club, who chaired the meeting, urged all factions in the Club to unite in solid fraternity and avoid rancour, suspicion and sabotage, which only serve the end of destruction.

In a related development, Mr Amarteifio informed the meeting that in pursuance of the judgement of the High Court, instructing Accra Hearts of Oak to pay debts owed Oly, in excess 400 million cedis, the Club has taken inventory of all property and locked up the Hearts Secretariat.

"We are only implementing the Court's Order to retrieve our money, which is long overdue in default," and appealed to the public for any information leading to the location of the Hearts bus. 02 June 06
