Okwawu asks for Accra Stadium too

The management of Soccer Mountaineers' Okwawu United has renewed its appeal to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to permit it to honour its remaining home matches at the Accra Sports Stadium by alternating with Liberty Professionals on Saturdays.

A statement signed by Dr F.K. Frimpong, Board Chairman of the club, said the move is to enable management to undertake renovation works on its home grounds at the Nkawkaw Stadium.

According to Okwawu, a previous request on the same issue to the GFA on August 27, this year was turned down. "However, we wish to renew our humble appeal with the hope that you would reconsider it on the same basis that you granted a similar request from Tema Ghapoha F/C”, the statement added.

Ghapoha last Saturday grossed ?140m (their highest ever) at the gates when they played Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium, triggering in its wake a chain of requests from other clubs, including Kwaebibirem United to temporarily adopt the Accra Stadium.
