Officials of Mitdjylland arrested for assault

Cape Coast, Dec.15, GNA - The police in Cape Coast, have arrested two officials of Maamobi Mitdjylland football club for allegedly assaulting a police officer and a referee.

They are Kofi Poku, and Mohammed Golie, Director and coach respectively of the club.

Disclosing the arrest to the GNA on Saturday, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Jasper Essien said on December 6, the suspects allegedly beat up class one referee, Emmanuel Annor who handled the Sub-Middle League match between Mitdjylland and Home Stars of Ho, when confusion broke out during the match.

ASP Wowolo was said to have led a team of policemen to maintain law and order at the stadium when he was also assaulted by the suspects. According to ASP Essien, the suspects have been granted one million cedis bail each to report to the police on Wednesday December 17. The match ended abruptly when the score was 1-1 at the time of the incident.

Referee Annor who sustained injuries was treated and discharged at the Central regional hospital.
