Berekum Chelsea head coach Solomon Odwo believes striker Saddick Adams is worthy of a place in the Black Stars.

Adams has been in impressive form since making a return to the Ghana Premier League this season, and has netted six times, including a double against Dreams FC on Sunday.

The 26-year-old has been called up to Ghana’s home-based side for a friendly with Japan, but the Blues’ trainer believes the forward deserves a bigger recognition in Avram Grant’s set-up.

“Saddick Adams is one of the quality players we have in our league now and in my honest opinion, he deserves a place in the Black Stars - not because he is my player but because of his qualities,” Odwo told Asempa FM.

“If we want better strikers to play in the national team, Saddick Adams is one of them because he has a good fighting spirit and can really score some awesome goals.

“When given the chance to play in the national team, some foreign-based players will not be called back into the team again.

“[Following] our league match against Kotoko, our [Ghana Football Association] technical director Oti Akenten and the [under-20] coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani also recommended him for the national team.

“I know when he is given the chance into the national team he will prove and establish himself.”

Adams joined Spanish giants Atletico Madrid in 2008 from Ashanti Gold after impressing for Ghana at the 2007 Fifa U-17 World Cup.

Failing to make a competitive first team appearance for the La Liga outfit, the striker has gone on to play in Serbia, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia and Libya.

In 2012, the frontman made a brief comeback to the Ghana Premier League with Chelsea.
