Nyarko return expected soon

Everton have received a fax from Alex Nyarko's agent stating that he will return to the club by the end of the week. Chief executive Michael Dunford said: "That's the information we have received, but there was no explanation for his late return."

Meanwhile, Walter Smith says The Toffees were not surprised that that midfielder did not return to the club when ordered to for pre-season training. The manager said: "It was no great surprise to us that Alex did not turn up given the problems he has had with the club. We will take disciplinary action against him and will continue to do so until he does arrive."
