Nyantakyi to stand unopposed

The field for the presidential elections of the Ghana Football Association has been narrowed to just one man after Vincent Odotei Sowah and Neil Amstrong Mortagbe were disqualified by the executive committee.

The duo have been axed for the elections because of question marks over the endorsements that accompanied the nomination forms they filed at the football association.

It means Kwesi Nyantekyie, the present Ghana Football Association president, will definitely win another term of office for four years.

“Further to the notice of Congress dated 31st March, 2011 and pursuant to article 28.6 of the GFA Statutes, please be informed that only one candidate qualifies to contest for the election to the office of the President of the Ghana Football Association – 2011,” GFA executive committee statement read.

“He is MR. KWESI NYANTAKYI.”

The statement was silent on the reasons for their omission from the race, but it has been suggested the endorsement of some of the candidates had been done with forged signatures.
