Nyaho-Tamakloe Kicks Against 20-Team League Expansion

The immediate past president of the Ghana Football Association Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe has said Ghana football could be heading for doom if the FA’s proposed 20-team league expansion up for consideration at tomorrow’s extraordinary congress, is agreed on.
He said what Ghana football needs now is quality and not quantity, adding that the FA would be setting a bad precedent if they pass the proposed expansion at tomorrow’s congress.
“I believe strongly that if this agenda is pursued, we will be stabbing ourselves in the back and end up diluting Ghana football,” he said.
He revealed how, when he was the FA president, some officials from Sekondi Eleven Wise and Accra Great Olympics approached him to reverse their relegation status but had to stand his grounds for the good of the game.
“During my time as FA chairman, I was approached by one Edward Acuqah approached me to push for their return into the premier league. I blatantly told him that I can’t help him since doing that will be to selling the legacy that we won’t to be build for our game. Same goes for some officials of Olympics who approached me for help but I had to deny them,” Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe said.
