Number 10 jersey a non issue

Black Stars assistant coach Kwasi Appiah has brushed aside concerns that the number 10 shirt is becoming a burden in the side.

Udinese midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah has told the GFA he is no longer willing to wear the number on his shirt for personal reasons.

There are reports Asamoah, often criticised for not being as efficient for Ghana as he is for club side feels burdened by the shirt which has been used by some of the greatest names in Ghana football.

Appiah says they have tried to convince Asamoah to stick to the shirt but the player is adamant and says the player must pick a new number from what is available now.

"Every senior player has his favourite number so Asamoah will have to make his choice from what is available. I am not sure it’s a big issue. Sometimes a player feels comfortable in a particular jersey number and takes it."
