Nuhu lashes at disrespectful fans

Black Stars defender Abdul Razak Nuhu has hit out at Ghanaian fans for a lack of respect for footballers. The player has made one appearance for the national team but feels that the criticisms and comments of fans on players does not make him feel Ghanaian sometimes.

He told Citi FM in Accra on Monday that he is not happy with the attitude of fans towards footballers who play for the national team.

"Sometimes if I listen to what they say outside there, it doesn't make me feel at home. It does not make me feel at home."

Nuhu, who recently expressed his intent on securing the Black Stars left-back position, played first in the country's last friendly against China.

"It's bad. I'm serious. It's bad. They should know how to talk. We are footballers. We are not just some people or something. They should give us respect and all that. Actually, me I'm not happy about it."

The 21 year-old Strømsgodset defender is on-loan with the Norwegian side from English champions, Manchester City. He is likely to play for Ghana on Tuesday in Monrovia in a friendly.

"It's not about the pressure but it's like, I don;t know, they don't understand football or something - some people, not all of them. The way they talk is not good at all. They should know how football goes. They should understand football."

Nuhu joined Manchester City from Right to Dream Football Academy in February, 2011 and was loaned out to the Norwegian outfit to gain playing time. He went on to make 26 appearances for his new club and has started the new season on a high featuring in 14 matches out of 17.
