The 23-time league champions want to go all length to beat the Yellow and Mauves on Sunday

Asante Kotoko are bent on securing victory at all cost in their clash with Medeama in the Ghana Premier League on Sunday, according to an official of the Kumasi-based team.

Tagged favourites ahead of commencement of the top flight following an impressive pre-season, the Porcupine Warriors got their campaign off to a faltering start with a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Wafa.

Although headed for week three, the Porcupine Warriors have played only one league game so far as matchday two opponents Ashanti Gold had to travel to Algeria for the 2016 Caf Champions League tie with MO Bejaia last weekend.

“Sunday is a do-or-die affair,” general manager Samuel Opoku Nti told AdomSports.

“Medeama have lost their first two matches we also lost our first match. We are playing at home and won’t allow Medeama to come ruin our day. It is surely a do-or-die.

“Once [arch-rivals] Hearts are in top form [after winning their opening two games], their fans begin to mock us. If we are going to have an upper hand over them, then we must all get involved.

“We need all the supporters on board. They are our biggest sponsors.

“Years back when we didn’t have sponsorship, it was the fans who made the difference. That puts Kotoko ahead of the rest of the clubs in the country.”

Reigning FA Cup champions Medeama similarly come into the game on the back of a disappointing start, having lost their two opening games to Ashanti Gold and Hearts.

The Yellow and Mauves, however, beat Kotoko to claim the cup competition title last August.
