Norway: Mahatma Otoo opens scoring account

Ghanaian striker Mahatma Otoo scored his first of the season in Norway on Friday night when his club Sogndal defeated Haugesund 1-0 in the top-flight game.

The former Hearts of Oak attacker had gone two matches without scoring in the new season in the Scandinavian country.

The 24-year-old put his scoring worries to bed when he broke the deadlock on 33 minutes in their third league game of the season.

Sogndal playmaker Rune Bolseth delivered a sweet pass to the Ghanaian from 16 metres and the striker was no time in hammering past forlorn goalkeeper Per Kristian Bratveit.

Sogndal was the better team after the break and could and should have scored more goals with Otoo fluffing one of the several scoring opportunities.

The goalscorer was named Sogndal's best player last season by a local jury.
