No Place for Players Who Warm Benches, Says Osam

The caretaker coach of senior national soccer team, the Black Stars, Fred Osam Doudu, has reiterated his decision to feature only foreign-based players who play regularly for their clubs.

Speaking to the GNA Sports on Wednesday, Osam however said that players he had used before would automatically be called.

'We are closely monitoring them, I get reports on them every week including those I have not invited since I assumed office but once they are playing actively I will definitely call them.'

He said the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is still compiling names of those who fall under this category to enable him select the best.

Coach Osam said, so far 16 of such regular players are being monitored out which the best among them would be selected.

He, however, declined to mention the names but added that the GFA has so far received encouraging response from most of them on their preparedness to respond to national calls.
