Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari has been given the opportunity to revive his career at Inter Milan as new coach Claudio Ranieri has named him in the squad to face Bologna on Saturday.

Ranieri took over the squad on Thursday and has named the Ghanaian in his squad for the game after watching him in just two training sessions. The former Chelsea boss says he will give all players a new chance to fight for starting places in the squad.

The career of the powerful midfielder looked to heading no where under previous coach Gian Piero Gasperini who was sacked this week. He was booed during the game against Roma league game last week as he appeared as a substitute but Gasperini had decided that the Ghanaian was not a first choice player.

Now with Gasperini’s departure, Muntari must now work hard to impress the new coach. Gasperini was dismissed on Wednesday after less than three months in charge, leaving the Nerazzurri searching for their fourth new coach in the last 15 months.

Inter finished second in the Serie A last season to arch rivals AC Milan but have yet to win a game this term.

They travel to face Bologna on Saturday before playing Russian side CSKA Moscow in the Champions League four days later.

Muntari has struggled to settle at Inter and show his best form after a £12million move from Portsmouth in 2008.

Sunderland managed to negotiate a significant reduction in salary and sign him on loan in January, but the Ghanaian only made nine league appearances before being shipped back to Italy.
