New Foreign Coach For Kotoko

With the departure of Ernst Middendorp, Kotoko is back on the market shopping for a coach but it looks as though the German’s replacement is already waiting in the wings. According to Chief Executive Herbert Mensah, his management Board fearing a worst-case scenario of Middendorp departure has been in talks with some coaches from Germany and elsewhere in Europe to take up the position of Coach of Kotoko.

Herbert Mensah says Kotoko’s next coach should be top draw and capable of driving the team to the glossy dream begun by Middendorp. But while Hebert is being cagey about who succeeds.

Ian Potterfield a Scotsman who has as part of his credentials coaching Chelsea in the English Premiership, the Zambian National Team and guiding Trinidad and Tobago to their first ever international cup triumph will be the man at the helm of Kotoko and he could take over as soon as this Wednesday. But herein lies another potentially explosive situation.

Kotoko’s Board has however dropped hints that it intends to critically examine the cost of hiring a foreign coach and its attendant drain on Kotoko’s budget. This seemingly throws the issue of a foreign coach out of the window and sets another potential clash between management and Board of the Porcupine Warriors.
