New Edubiase President shocked by Abeiku Ainooson's int'l snub

New Edubiase President Abdul Salam Yakubu says he is shocked by the international snub of Asante Kotoko defender Abeiku Ainooson.

The 24-year-old was adjudged the Best Defender in both seasons of the Ghana Premier League and the FA Cup.

Ainooson also emerged one of the best performers for Ghana at the CHAN tournament staged earlier this year in South Africa.

The former New Edubiase man however awaits his first senior call-up into the Black Stars.

His former club President Abdul Salam Yakubu says he is at a loss as to why Ainooson is not getting a ‘long overdue’ call-up to the Black Stars.

“I am very surprised a player like Abeiku Ainooson has not yet been called up into the Black Stars,” he told Happy FM.

“This is a player who has been adjudged the best in his field in Ghana and yet still he is not getting called up in the Ghana national team.

“Abeiku [Ainooson] was adjudged the best in Ghana when he was playing alongside Kwabena Edusei at Kotoko.

“Edusei gets a Black Stars call up when he leaves the country, and our best player is still being ignored?

“There is a problem somewhere. I don’t understand this.”
