Ghanaian international striker Junior Agogo has declared that his two goals against the Super Eagles of Nigeria are the best so far in his career.Speaking in an interview with Happy FM, an Accra based radio station, the Nottingham Forrest of England striker said he was overjoyed when he scored on each occasion against the Nigerian side.

Agogo scored his first goal against the rival West African country in February last year when both teams clashed in an international friendly encounter, a game which the Black Stars of Ghana won 4-1.

He was the hero of the day during the quarterfinal encounter involving the two sides at the last edition of the African Nations Cup held last month in Ghana. Agogo’s late strike was enough to seal victory for the Ghanaian team.

“Honestly, you can’t beat my feelings when I score against Nigeria,” Agogo told Happy FM.

“I’ve scored a lot of goals in my career but the ones against Nigeria are the most memorable because Nigeria is one of the best teams in the world, not minding the difficulty they are in now."

He also recalled his first goal against the Nigerian team was just a result of a lucky venture.

“I gate-crashed into the Ghana team when they had a friendly game against Nigeria last year. I was just invited to try my luck in a big game and fortunately, I scored through my first touch. From then on, I think I got the confidence I could perform at the highest level, many thanks to Claude LeRoy,” he said.

He also disclosed that he had a sleepless night after he scored the winner for the Black Stars in that dramatic 2008 CAN Nations Cup quarterfinal against Nigeria.

“I was injured so also was Asamoah Gyan. The degree of my injury was less than that of Gyan but he is the more experienced player. We could not afford to fail Ghanaians at the quarterfinal, so I thought to myself I had to do a lot more for the team and I was happy I scored.”

He also stated that he loved the media buzz that followed his heroic winner against the Super Eagles of Nigeria in that encounter in Accra.

“You know the media can be creative. When I got the goal against Nigeria, some journalists suggested I should change my name to Senior Agogo because they believe no Junior Agogo could score against the Eagles," he laughed.

"It is funny but I enjoyed every bit of it."

The player also revealed that so far his future lies at Nottingham Forrest, despite the fact that his name has been linked with several big clubs in recent weeks.

"Forest is a great club with fantastic fans. I look forward to a big lift for the club. My name has been mentioned with big clubs but nothing concrete has materialized. So for now, it is Forest on my mind," he concluded.
