Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari has refused to take all the glory in his superb trademark strike in the 2-0 win over Chievo.

The 30-year-old hit a super volley just outside the box to hand Milan in the lead in the game played on Saturday at the San Siro.

Keisuke Honda wrapped up the win with a wondrous free kick.

It is however Muntari’s powerful strike that has hogged the headlines as Milan returned to winning ways after two successive draws.

But the ex-Inter man says he was only doing what he is paid for by the club to do to ensure the team returns and maintains its winning run.

“We had collected two draws, so my goal was a relief,” he said after the game.

“Every time we take to the pitch we want to win and we’re happy to have done so. You can never give in and you have to keep on working, even in the difficult moments.

“Only like this can we come through it all. It’s not easy, but we want to stay on this path.

“We have our feet on the ground. The coaching staff are helping us a lot. We have no excuses and we must always take to the pitch with strength and the goal of winning in our minds.

“It’s important that the team wins, so if I score a goal it’s valuable for everyone.”

Milan will play away to Hellas Verona in their next Serie-A match after the international break.
