Muntari claims Pompey move close

Udinese midfielder Sulley Muntari claims a deal to move to Portsmouth is '99 per cent' complete, after Harry Redknapp confirmed his interest in the player. Redknapp has admitted his frustration in the transfer market so far this summer, but looks to be closing in on a deal for Muntari who was hugely impressive at the World Cup for Ghana.

The 23-year-old has also starred for Udinese over the past couple of seasons and has often spoken of his desire to play in the Premiership, and now a deal is edging closer. "I'm close to moving to England and 99 percent of the deal with Portsmouth is completed," Muntari told BBC Sport.

"Coach Redknapp is a man I have so much respect for.

"He has nurtured many African footballers and I think under him I will make a lot of progress in my career."
